Empowering Communities,
One Youth at a Time.

Preparing the
Next Generation

Youth Action Project (YAP) provides youth and young adults with transformative experiences coupled with professional development training, career coaching, and paid work experience that enables youth and young adults to find their passion and develop marketable skills.

Our work centers around providing youth in underserved communities a path to careers with sustainable incomes through facilitating academic achievement, access to higher education, vocational training, creating awareness of in-demand job sectors, soft skills coaching, and incubating entrepreneurial aspirations.

Our Purpose

YAP was established in 1998 as a youth-driven project to address youth issues.

Our mission is to empower youth and young adults in the development of skills and habits needed for economic and social success.

Youth Action Project’s vision is that all youth graduate from high school, transition into post-secondary education, and enter meaningful employment or entrepreneurial ventures by age 25.

YAP in Action

The foundation of all YAP programming is the relationship developed between participants and their mentor.  YAP couples positive youth development with workforce preparation training and intensive case management.  Each participant works with their mentor to develop an individualized strategy that maps their route to goal attainment.  Through paid work experience that emphasizes project-based learning, participants are able to put into practice the new skills and habits developed as a result of their participation in our training programs and position themselves for careers with increased earning potential and upward mobility.

Our Programs

Young Scholars
