The data is clear, barriers to high school completion often translates to barriers to economic mobility. YAP mentors help students unlock their potential via individualized academic coaching, tutoring, goal-setting, and resiliency training.
Young Scholars programming provides mentorship, academic coaching, and enrichment activities to high school students in San Bernardino City and Rialto Unified School Districts. YAP uses a near-peer model by pairing college students or recent gradates with high-school youth to create mutually beneficial mentoring relationships. The college students, often interested in entering teaching or social service professions, gain valuable work experience while serving as tutors, mentors, and coaches to younger students.
