2020-2021 Young Scholars AmeriCorps Cohort
Each year Youth Action Project enrolls local young adults, primarily between the ages of 18-24 years old, to serve as AmeriCorps Members. Our Yapsters, as we call them, commit up to 1,200 hours of service to their community over a 10-month period. This paid work experience opportunity allows them to gain hands-on experience, personal/professional development training, education awards (scholarships), and mentorship from our staff and network of community supporters.
Our members provide tutoring and mentoring for high school students, facilitate workshops and work readiness trainings for Opportunity Youth, recruit community volunteers, and plan service-learning projects.
